Muchos lo consideran como uno de los mayores placeres. Incluso los hay que lo definen como la mejor terapia en los momentos de bajón. Otros lo ven como una necesidad que tienen que satisfacer de manera imperiosa. La gran mayoría opina que se trata de una rutina sin más. Lo cierto es que, seamos unos shopaholics o no, en la sociedad consumista en la que vivimos, casi nadie se libra de la obligación de realizar alguna que otra compra de vez en cuando.
Por lo tanto, creo que nos puede venir de perillas repasar y ampliar algunos términos y expresiones relacionados con las compras. Así que… Let’s go shopping!!
Tipos de tiendas:

- (Shopping) centre (BrE) / mall (AmE): centro comercial
- Department store: grandes almacenes

- Clothes shop: tienda de ropa

Ahora que habéis rellenado los huecos, leedla y analizad su significado.
En la sociedad consumista en la que vivimos, los artistas a menudo se venden a una industria en la que el dinero está por encima del talento y lo comercial prima sobre lo auténtico y original. Esta canción, como abrís comprobado, critica todo esto.
Vemos que abundan palabras relacionadas con el consumo, como:
- Price tag: etiqueta
- Sale: venta
- To pay: pagar
Otras pertenecientes al slang, es decir, al habla popular de la calle, como serían:
- Cha-ching: hace referencia al sonido que hace la caja registradora al abrirla.
- Ba-bling: también se le conoce como “bling bling”. Se refiere al hecho de llevar ostentosas y brillantes joyas. Estilo muy típico de los raperos.
Si es la primera vez que las veis es normal que no tengáis ni idea de lo que significan. Tranquilos, recordad que se trata de slang. Sin embargo, hay otras más frecuentes:
- Ain’t: Ya estamos más que habituados a ella. Sustituye las formas “isn’t” y “aren’t”.
- Wanna: Igual de habitual en el habla coloquial. Sustituto de la forma “want to”
- Gonna: Más de lo mismo, en este caso sería el equivalente al “going to”.
Y si seguimos exprimiendo las lyrics podremos encontrar algunas palabras típicas del mundillo de la música:
- Half stack: Se trata de un tipo de amplificador.
- Six string: una guitarra eléctrica
- Video hoes: la típica chica que sale en los vídeos musicales muy pero que muy ligerita de ropa.
Y algunas expresiones…
- A low-blow: sería lo que llamamos un golpe bajo
- To slow down: digamos que en este contexto no se refiere a “aminorar la velocidad” sino más bien a “relajarnos un poco”.
- Undefeatable odds: obstáculos insuperables
- Stumble: tropezar
- To leap across: saltar/ir superando obstáculos
